Climate drift

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004342

The gradual departure of a climate model's simulated state from observed or expected climatic conditions over long integration periods, even when forced with realistic external inputs. This often arises from small biases in the model's representation of physical processes, which accumulate over time. It can lead to an artificial warming or cooling trend in the model's climate.
