Spinup time
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009145
The period required for a numerical weather prediction model or a rotating fluid system to reach a state of dynamic equilibrium or a realistic representation of atmospheric conditions from an initial state. During this phase, the model adjusts to its internal physics and boundary conditions. It is often associated with the initial adjustment of moisture and cloud fields in models.
