Convective adjustment

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004668

A parameterization scheme used in numerical weather prediction models to represent the effects of unresolved convection on the larger-scale atmospheric state. It typically involves adjusting temperature and moisture profiles to maintain conditional stability, redistributing heat and moisture vertically. This process prevents the atmosphere from becoming excessively unstable in model simulations.
