Co-rotating Interaction Region
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004710
A region in the solar wind formed by the interaction of a fast stream of solar wind with a slower stream, where both streams originate from the same solar rotation. These regions are characterized by compressed plasma and enhanced magnetic fields. CIRs can cause recurrent geomagnetic activity on Earth.
