Magnetohydrodynamic wave

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010595

A type of wave that propagates through an electrically conducting fluid, such as plasma, in the presence of a magnetic field. These waves arise from the interaction between the fluid's motion and the magnetic field, where the magnetic field lines are effectively frozen into the fluid. They are observed in the Earth's magnetosphere and in solar flares.
