Coastal upwelling

The process where cold, nutrient-rich deep ocean water rises to the surface along a coastline. This phenomenon is typically driven by prevailing winds that push surface water away from the coast, allowing deeper water to replace it. Coastal upwelling zones are highly productive marine ecosystems.
