Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007603

A strong, persistent northerly wind that affects the western coast of the Iberian Peninsula, particularly Portugal, during the summer months. It is driven by the interaction of the Azores High pressure system and thermal lows over the Iberian landmass. This wind brings cooler, drier air and often creates upwelling conditions along the coast, influencing local marine ecosystems.
