Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004539

The elongated, narrower portion of a comma cloud system that extends from the comma head, typically trailing along the cold front. This part of the cloud pattern is associated with a band of clouds and precipitation, which can range from light to moderate. It marks the boundary where colder air is advancing and lifting warmer, moist air, contributing to the overall cyclonic circulation.
