Complex signal
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004554
A mathematical representation of a wave or oscillation that uses complex numbers, comprising both a real and an imaginary component. This allows for the simultaneous encoding of both amplitude and phase information, which is particularly useful in radar meteorology for analyzing the properties of scattered electromagnetic waves. Such signals are processed to derive quantities like Doppler velocity and spectral width from radar returns.
