Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010163

A short-duration wave-like oscillation with an amplitude that starts at zero, increases, and then returns to zero. Unlike a sine wave, it is localized in both time and frequency. Wavelets are used in signal processing for analyzing transient phenomena, such as in atmospheric turbulence studies.
