Consolidation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004615
The process by which individual ice floes or fragments become frozen together to form a more continuous and stable ice cover. This often occurs under conditions of persistent cold temperatures and reduced wave action, allowing the ice to solidify into a larger, more coherent mass. It is a key process in the development of extensive sea ice fields.
