Convergence band

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004685

A narrow zone in the atmosphere where air currents flow together, leading to upward vertical motion and often enhanced cloudiness and precipitation. These bands can form along fronts, sea breezes, or other boundaries where air masses meet. They are frequently observed in radar imagery as elongated areas of higher reflectivity.
