Cloud band

An extensive, elongated formation of clouds that is much longer than it is wide. These formations are readily identifiable on satellite imagery and are associated with large-scale atmospheric features like weather fronts, jet streams, or tropical waves. A frontal cloud band, for instance, marks the boundary between two different air masses and can stretch for hundreds or thousands of kilometers.
