Coriolis effect

The apparent deflection of moving objects when viewed from a rotating frame of reference, such as the Earth. This effect causes large-scale atmospheric and oceanic currents to curve, influencing global weather patterns and ocean circulation. It deflects objects to the right in the Northern Hemisphere and to the left in the Southern Hemisphere.
