Buys Ballot's law

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004101

A fundamental principle in meteorology that describes the relationship between wind direction and pressure distribution in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. In the Northern Hemisphere, if an observer stands with their back to the wind, lower pressure is to their left and higher pressure is to their right. The law is a consequence of the Coriolis effect acting on air parcels.
