Corresponding point
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004720
A specific location on the Earth's surface that is identifiable in two or more overlapping images, such as aerial photographs or satellite scenes, taken from different vantage points. In photogrammetry and remote sensing, identifying corresponding points is a fundamental step for creating stereoscopic 3D views and for geometric correction of imagery. The displacement between corresponding points in a stereo pair is known as parallax, which is used to determine elevation.
