Photogrammetry

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007913

The practice of making measurements from photographs, especially for recovering the exact positions of surface points. In atmospheric science, it is applied to aerial or satellite imagery to create topographic maps, measure cloud heights and motion, and track the evolution of storms or plumes. By comparing images taken from different positions, three-dimensional models of objects and terrain can be generated.
