dB''Z
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004872
A logarithmic unit used in radar meteorology to express the equivalent reflectivity factor (Z) of precipitation, normalized to a standard reference. It quantifies the power returned to the radar from hydrometeors, providing an estimate of their size and concentration. Higher dBZ values generally indicate more intense precipitation, such as heavy rain or hail.
