Isoecho
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006696
A line on a weather radar display connecting points of equal radar reflectivity intensity. These lines contour areas of precipitation, allowing meteorologists to distinguish between regions of light, moderate, and heavy precipitation based on the strength of the returned radar signal. Reflectivity is measured in decibels of Z (dBZ), where values around 20 dBZ indicate light rain, while values exceeding 50 dBZ suggest heavy rain or hail.
