Equivalent reflectivity factor
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005457
A measure of the radar reflectivity that would be observed if all precipitation particles in a given volume were small water droplets. This factor accounts for the varying sizes, shapes, and compositions of actual hydrometeors, converting their radar signal into an equivalent value for a standard reference. It is expressed in units of dBZ (decibels relative to Z).
