Equivalent tail wind

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005458

A hypothetical tailwind that would produce the same effect on aircraft performance as the actual wind conditions encountered during flight. This value integrates the varying wind speeds and directions along a flight path into a single effective tailwind component. It is used in flight planning to estimate fuel consumption and flight duration, often resulting in shorter flight times.
