Echo intensity

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005251

The strength of the radar signal returned from a target, such as precipitation particles or atmospheric aerosols. It is directly related to the size, number, and phase of the hydrometeors within the radar's sampling volume. Higher echo intensity values indicate more intense precipitation, often measured in decibels relative to 1 milliwatt (dBZ).
