Decibar
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004883
A unit of pressure equal to one-tenth of a bar, or 10,000 pascals. In oceanography and meteorology, it is frequently used to express hydrostatic pressure, especially in the context of water depth. An increase in pressure of one decibar corresponds almost exactly to a one-meter increase in depth in the ocean, making it a practical unit for profiling the water column.
