Dendritic crystal
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004915
A type of ice crystal characterized by a branched, tree-like structure, typically forming at temperatures between -10°C and -20°C and in conditions of high humidity. These intricate crystals are efficient at scavenging supercooled water droplets, contributing to the growth of snowflakes. Stellar dendrites are a common and visually striking form of these crystals.
