Crystal

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004789

A solid material in which the constituent atoms, molecules, or ions are arranged in a highly ordered, repeating three-dimensional pattern, forming a crystal lattice. In meteorology, ice crystals are particularly relevant, forming in clouds and precipitating as snow, hail, or ice pellets. The specific shape of an ice crystal depends on the temperature and humidity conditions during its formation.
