Crystal lattice
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004791
The regular, repeating three-dimensional arrangement of atoms, ions, or molecules within a crystalline solid, such as ice. This ordered structure dictates many of the physical properties of the material, including its strength and optical characteristics. In ice, the hexagonal crystal lattice is responsible for the six-sided symmetry often observed in snowflakes.
