Spatial dendrite
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009085
A type of ice crystal that grows in three dimensions, characterized by intricate, branching arms extending from a central core. These crystals form in cold, moist atmospheric conditions, typically at temperatures between -10°C and -20°C. Their complex structure contributes to efficient light scattering and can lead to optical phenomena like halos.
