Designated pollutant

An air pollutant that is not a criteria pollutant but for which new source performance standards (NSPS) or emission guidelines have been established under the Clean Air Act. These pollutants are typically regulated due to their potential adverse effects on public health or welfare. Examples include sulfuric acid mist and total reduced sulfur.
