Deterministic hydrology

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004954

The branch of hydrology that uses physically based models to simulate water movement through a watershed, where the output is uniquely determined by the input parameters and initial conditions. These models rely on established physical laws, such as conservation of mass and energy, to predict hydrological processes. This approach contrasts with stochastic hydrology, which incorporates random variables.
