Stochastic hydrology

The branch of hydrology that applies probabilistic and statistical methods to analyze and model hydrological processes, such as rainfall, streamflow, and groundwater levels. It acknowledges the inherent randomness and variability in natural water systems. This approach is used for risk assessment, water resource management, and forecasting extreme events.
