Probabilistic process

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008155

A system or phenomenon whose future state cannot be predicted with certainty, but rather is described by a probability distribution over possible outcomes. Many atmospheric and climatic processes, such as the formation of thunderstorms or the trajectory of a hurricane, exhibit this inherent randomness. Stochastic models are often used to represent these processes.
