Random process
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008392
A collection of random variables indexed by time or space, representing a phenomenon whose future state cannot be predicted with certainty. In meteorology, this describes atmospheric variables like wind speed fluctuations or turbulent eddies, which exhibit irregular behavior. The statistical properties of a random process, such as its mean and variance, can often be characterized.
