Random walk model

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008395

A mathematical model describing a path consisting of a sequence of random steps. In atmospheric science, it is used to simulate the dispersion of pollutants or tracers in the atmosphere, where the movement of individual particles is influenced by turbulent eddies. This model can predict the spread of a plume by simulating the stochastic motion of many individual particles over time.
