Randomization
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010716
The process of introducing randomness into an experiment or data collection to minimize bias and allow for valid statistical inference. This involves assigning subjects or treatments to groups by chance, or selecting data points without a predetermined pattern. In atmospheric modeling, randomization can be applied to initial conditions in ensemble forecasts to account for uncertainties.
