Randomized seeding trial

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008396

An experimental method designed to statistically assess the effectiveness of cloud seeding for precipitation enhancement. In these trials, some clouds are treated with a seeding agent, like silver iodide, while a control group of similar clouds is left untreated, with the selection made randomly. The precipitation from both the seeded and unseeded cloud populations is then measured and compared to determine if a statistically significant difference exists.
