Random sea
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008393
A complex ocean surface condition characterized by waves of varying heights, periods, and directions, resulting from the superposition of numerous individual wave components. This state is common in open ocean environments where winds generate a spectrum of waves. The statistical properties of a random sea, such as significant wave height, are often used for characterization.
