Doubly stochastic matrix
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010482
A square matrix of non-negative real numbers where the sum of the elements in each row and each column equals one. This mathematical structure is used in statistical meteorology, particularly in the context of Markov chains for modeling transitions between discrete weather states. It can also be applied in ensemble forecast verification to represent transformations that preserve the probability distribution of ranked outcomes.
