Dvorak technique
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005198
A method used to estimate the intensity of tropical cyclones based on satellite imagery. It involves analyzing cloud patterns, such as the central dense overcast and eye features, to assign a T-number that correlates with the storm's maximum sustained winds and minimum central pressure. The technique provides a standardized way to track cyclone development when direct measurements are unavailable.
