Dyne

A unit of force in the centimeter-gram-second (CGS) system of units, defined as the force required to accelerate a mass of one gram by one centimeter per second squared. Although largely superseded by the Newton in the International System of Units (SI), it is still occasionally encountered in older meteorological texts. One dyne is equal to 10 microNewtons.
