Effective temperature
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005288
The temperature of a still, saturated environment that would give the same sensation of warmth or cold as the actual combination of air temperature, humidity and air movement; it is a bioclimatic comfort index introduced by Houghten and Yaglou in 1923. In radiation physics the same name means the temperature of a blackbody emitting the same total radiation as a body, about 255 K for Earth.
