Effective velocity
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005289
The average speed at which a substance or property is transported through a medium, considering all contributing factors such as advection and turbulent mixing. It represents the overall rate of movement, which can differ from the mean fluid velocity due to complex flow patterns. This concept is often applied to the transport of pollutants or tracers in the atmosphere.
