Euraquilo

A strong, tempestuous northeasterly wind occurring in the central Mediterranean Sea, primarily during the winter months. The name, a blend of Greek and Latin terms for east and north winds, describes a cyclonic storm characterized by violent gales and turbulent seas. This wind is historically documented, most notably in the biblical account of the shipwreck of the Apostle Paul in the Book of Acts.
