Floeberg
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005630
A large mass of sea ice formed by the crushing and piling up of smaller ice floes, creating an irregular, hummocky feature that can rise several meters above the water surface. These formations result from the intense pressure exerted on ice fields by winds and currents. Floebergs are common in polar regions and can pose hazards to navigation.
