Forward chaining
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005729
A reasoning method used in expert systems and artificial intelligence that starts with an initial set of facts and applies a series of inference rules to derive new conclusions. In meteorology, this data-driven approach can be applied in automated forecasting systems, where observed conditions like temperature, pressure, and humidity are the initial facts. The system then applies meteorological rules, such as 'if temperature is below freezing and precipitation is present, then snow is possible', to generate a forecast.
