Gaussian process

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005890

A stochastic process where any finite collection of random variables has a multivariate normal distribution. In atmospheric science, it is used for statistical modeling of spatially or temporally correlated data, such as temperature fields or wind patterns. Gaussian processes provide a flexible framework for interpolation, prediction, and uncertainty quantification in meteorological applications.
