Gaussian grid
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005889
A specific type of latitude-longitude grid used in atmospheric and climate models, where the grid points in the latitudinal direction are spaced according to the roots of Legendre polynomials. This non-uniform spacing provides higher resolution near the poles while maintaining computational efficiency. It is often employed in spectral models to avoid aliasing errors during transformations between spectral and grid-point representations.
