Geodesic grid
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005905
A type of grid used in numerical models, particularly for global atmospheric and oceanic simulations, where grid points are distributed approximately uniformly over a sphere. This grid minimizes singularities and distortion found in latitude-longitude grids, improving computational efficiency and accuracy. It is often based on an icosahedron or other polyhedra.
