Staggered grid
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010781
A numerical discretization technique used in atmospheric models where different prognostic variables are stored at different locations within a computational grid cell. For example, velocity components might be defined at cell faces while scalar quantities like pressure or temperature are at cell centers. This arrangement can reduce numerical errors and spurious oscillations in simulations.
