Spectral numerical prediction

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009108

The forecasting of atmospheric conditions using numerical models that represent atmospheric variables in terms of their spectral components, such as spherical harmonics. This method allows for efficient global simulations and accurate representation of large-scale atmospheric flows. It is a common technique in operational weather centers worldwide.
