Prognostic clouds

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008174

Clouds that are explicitly forecast by a numerical weather prediction model, rather than being diagnosed from other atmospheric variables. These models simulate the physical processes of cloud formation, growth, and dissipation directly. This approach provides a more detailed and accurate representation of cloud fields, particularly for aviation and solar energy forecasting.
